Antibiotics! When a person takes antibiotics the entire flora in the bowels are destroyed and if we don’t replant these good bacteria then bloating and digestive symptoms become present.
Constant emotional stress.
Poor eating habits including excessive consumption of foods and beverages high in sugar.
Long term use of the contraceptive pill.
Incomplete digestion commonly due to rushing meals.
Overuse of certain medication like antibiotics, antacids, corticosteroids and hormone therapy (including the contraceptive pill) predispose individuals to yeast overgrowth or candidiasis.
Excessive alcohol consumption.
Over consumption of sweet foods and foods high in simple carbohydrates e.g. white flour products, cakes, refined sugar, honey, soft drinks, fruit juice and certain fruits, particularly dried fruit, can provide fuel for Candida to overgrow in the intestines.
In 2013 she completed residency training at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri with a specialty in Osteopathy and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
Since 2013 she has been in private practice in northern Arizona. Throughout that time she has tirelessly worked to complement her conventional medical training with re-education in natural medicine, functional and integrative medicine and longevity medicine, biophysics, and regenerative injection therapies. She has also continued her studies in Biodynamic cranial osteopathy, and treats all of her local patients
osteopathically.
Dr. Burgoon was steeped in alternative medicine and nutrition since childhood. She was fortunate to have a country upbringing in a Steiner community surrounded by biodynamic organic agriculture, anthroposophical medicine, nutrition, chiropractic, and
anthroposophical spirituality. Dr. Burgoon carried this alternative understanding of health throughout her medical training and continues to refine and update her study while in private practice.
She is distinguished by her passion for continuously learning new information, her equal passion for teaching her patients to apply life-changing new perspectives, and her attention to detail in understanding every patient’s health as a unique individual mystery to solve. At Source Functional Medicine, every patient is family.
